What tips can you use to improve your health and fitness? Getting healthy and fit is exciting, and you may have many questions and ideas about the journey. So what is the first thing you should do?

How do you decide what comes next? How do you measure your success? And what will the new you look like? However, getting started can be the tricky part. There are many factors to consider before you begin this journey.

The best tips you can follow are to:

  • Visit your doctor
  • Set S.M.A.R. T goals
  • Choose your resources wisely.

The first step to improving your fitness is to visit your doctor.

The best tip you can follow to improve your health and fitness is to visit your doctor. Unfortunately, no one enjoys visiting the doctor unless they must. Perhaps you should view your doctor as a health coach to change this mindset.

They can provide you with vital information about the path you have chosen. As your doctor knows your health history, they can help determine a starting point for your diet and workout program.

When you visit your doctor, ask for a complete checkup, metabolic panel, and lipid panel. The checkup and discussions will give you an overall assessment of your body’s condition.

You must factor hormones, nutrients, cholesterol, vital organs, muscles, and the skeletal system into your goals. Then, after the doctor’s assessment, you can determine the most appropriate type of workout program and diet you need.

The second step to improving your fitness is to set goals

Setting goals is the second-best tip to improve your health and wellness. Goals give you a framework to plan and the motivation to execute. S.M.A.R.T. goals are the best types of goals, which stand for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-sensitive.

A variety of goals gives you a complete picture of your performance, so ensure you have at least one diet, exercise, and body measurement goal. This is a good practice because sometimes the metrics lag way behind your diet and exercise success.

The key to health and fitness is consistency and compliance. Diet and exercise goals will drive your metric goals. After you set your goals, keep track of your performance.

Not only does this show how you are moving toward your goals, but it also gives your doctor and trainer valuable information they can use to help you create a workout program and diet that works for you.

The third step to improving your fitness is to choose your resources wisely.

The final tip you can follow to improve your health and fitness is to choose your resources wisely. Choosing resources is an integral part of your health and fitness journey. There are many resources to consider. Some are easy to identify, like the gym, workout gear, trainer, exercise equipment, and technology.

However, other resources are just as essential but less identifiable such as the layout of your kitchen, cooking supplies, grocery store, and support team. We often overlook these resources because they may not directly contribute to your success. However, they play a massive role in whether you will succeed or fail on your journey.

In summary, Getting started on your health and fitness journey is about setting yourself up for the most successful outcome possible.

Getting started on your health and fitness journey is about setting yourself up for the most successful outcome possible. A good fitness and diet coach can tailor your plan to meet your doctor’s recommendations.

They are also excellent at getting you to set goals and choose your resources wisely. A good coach can steer you clear of the pitfalls many have fallen victim to and introduce you to best practices to get the results you want.

The start of your health and fitness journey is an exciting time. However, the best way to get positive results is to get off to an impressive start!
