In 2022, the news of who died shook the bodybuilding world. There are many questions about the passing of some of its most prominent figures – Bill Pearl, Andreas Frey, and Cedric McMillan. These three men’s contributed immensely to the sport; we will forget them soon.

Bodybuilding, like any activity, can be dangerous and sometimes deadly when not handled with respect and care. After all, bodybuilding requires you to diet and exercise. Some unsafe practices that can cause injury and death include illegal drugs, dehydration, performing exercises incorrectly, and ignoring pre-existing conditions.

You do so at your own peril by not ignoring the warning signs. While many bodybuilders die of natural causes at rightful old age, some fall victim to the sport. In this article, we will celebrate the bodybuilding life of all who died in 2022, regardless of the cause of their death.

Bodybuilding Who Died in 2022

Bill Pearl won Mr. Universe, and we still feel his influence today. Next, Andreas Frey won the German National Champion, and experts credited him with helping create modern bodybuilding as we know it. Finally, Cedric McMillan earned his place in bodybuilding history by winning both the Arnold Classic USA and Arnold Classic Europe titles. All three men were respected in their own right, and their legacies will live on through those they inspired within the bodybuilding community.

Bill Pearl

Bill Pearl was one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. He began his career in the late 1950s and became one of the most celebrated figures in bodybuilding history. Pearl was famous for his perfect physique, particularly for achieving a weight of 285 pounds with just 6% body fat. Bill won Mr. Universe and Mr. America titles, and the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2000 inducted him.

Sadly, Pearl passed away in 2022. Pearl was 91 years of age and vigorous when he passed away. He died due to injuries caused during a lawn mower accident. As he was operating his lawnmower, it tumbled down an embankment. The accident resulted in the death of one of the most legendary bodybuilders of all time. We will remember him forever as an icon and pioneer in bodybuilding and fitness.

Andreas Frey

Andreas Frey was a well-known professional bodybuilder from Germany. He competed in several competitions and won the Mr. Universe title. His peers greatly respected Frey for his dedication to the sport and willingness to help others improve their form or technique.

After years of intense training, he died at 43 in 2022 in his sleep due to unknown causes. Andreas Frey has since been remembered as one of the greatest bodybuilders of his generation and an inspiration to many athletes who followed him into the bodybuilding world. His legacy will live on through those he trained and encouraged during his lifetime.

Cedric McMillan

Cedric was a beloved figure in bodybuilding, having achieved multiple championship wins in various competitions throughout the years. He had won Arnold Classic titles and was a Mr. Olympia runner-up.
Cedric competed in many other significant competitions, such as New York Pro and Ironman Pro.

Cedric McMillan passed away at the age of 44 in 2022. His death came suddenly — unexpected news that shocked many within the bodybuilding community who had come to admire him over the years. It is reported that someone close to him found him unresponsive with no signs of life—although efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. The cause of death was rumored to be related to pre-existing heart conditions or drug use/abuse.

Conclusion on Bodybuilding Who Died In 2022

In conclusion, bodybuilding is an activity that comes with significant risks. Unfortunately, in 2022, we lost many beloved bodybuilders, some related to the dangers of bodybuilding and others from natural causes.

Other notable bodybuilders who passed away in 2022 were Doug Brignole, Josh Crane, Jerry Ward, Ryeley Palfi, Paul Poloczek, Eddie Giuliani, Stacey Cummings, Boston Loyd, Tom Prince, Marvin, Eder, and Sergio Fernandez.

They will be remembered and celebrated for their achievements in the sport and the dedication they brought to it. Their memory will live on as other bodybuilders aspire to reach their level of greatness.
