Psycho Fitness is a bodybuilding expert unlike any other. He has trained and coached some of the biggest names in professional bodybuilding, including Dexter Jackson and Shawn Rhoden, both former Mr. Olympia. His training methods are built upon old-school techniques from the 1990s to the early 2000s, such as the bent-over row, t-bar row, dumbbell rows, dumbbell presses, and squatting.
However, what truly sets him apart is his unique relationship with Chris Aceto. Together they helped Shawn Rhoden win Mr. Olympia. So how did this unlikely pairing come about? First, let’s take a closer look at Psycho’s journey from bodybuilder to successful trainer and coach.
The Early Years
Psycho was originally a bodybuilder who trained with Flex Wheeler, Chris Cormier, and Paul Dillett at Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach. He trained with Champions and knew what it took to create a champion. During this time, he also learned under legendary coach Charles Glass who taught him everything he knew about weightlifting techniques and nutrition plans for bodybuilders.
After several years of training at Gold’s Gym, he decided to leave because he felt the other trainers were undermining him. This prompted him to start his gym, which gave him greater control over his training approach to coaching clients. Many say it was Psycho undermining the other trainers, namely his mentor Charles Glass. The rumor was he stole clients from Charles Glass and other trainers. Finally, Charles and the other trainers demanded that Gold’s Gym not allow Psycho to train anymore.
The Psycho-Aceto Connection
While working at his gym that Psycho met Chris Aceto, who had written numerous books on bodybuilding nutrition and had already achieved great success as a coach for professional bodybuilders such as Dexter Jackson (another Mr. Olympia). Chris invited Psycho to join him in helping Shawn Rhoden win Mr. Olympia in 2018, which required an intense regime of both diet and exercise plans explicitly tailored to Shawn’s goals as a bodybuilder.
During their time together, it became apparent that their styles complemented each other perfectly – Psycho would tear Shawn down with intense workouts while Chris would rebuild him with diet plans explicitly designed for maximum muscle growth without sacrificing health or performance goals.
